What Does the PTA
Do?
Lake Travis
Middle School PTA is formally organized under the authority of
the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers, a branch of the
National Congress of Parents and Teachers. The objects of the
National PTA and Texas PTA, are:
-
To promote the welfare of children and youth in
home, school, community, and place of worship.
-
To raise the standards of home life.
-
To secure adequate laws for the care and
protection of children and youth.
-
To bring into closer relation the home and the
school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in
the education of children and youth.
-
To develop between educators and the general
public such united efforts as will secure for all children and
youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and
spiritual education.
The fun is
in the way LTMS PTA achieves its objectives:
Through the efforts of several project committees LTMS PTA

And the most
fun -- What we do!
- PTA benefited our
campus through the purchase of media projectors (2005),
additional textbooks, supplemental reading programs,
grade-level projects, new student hospitality, mural
supplies, and $14,000 (2005-06) to LTMS library resource
improvement and $10, 400 to the library in 2006-07!!
- PTA operated the
School Store and coordinated School Supplies for ease of
the LTMS families.
- PTA funded and
coordinated grade-level activities, such as field trips,
dances, May Day and Olympiad for 6th graders contests
and parties for the students.
- PTA supported LTMS
teachers and staff through annual stipends and
appreciation activities.
- PTA supported campus /
student events, such as Red Ribbon Week, Art
Reflections, UIL, and more.
- Support for National
Mythology Program
- Initial funding for
long term programs– WE WANT YOUR INPUT
Plans for 2007-08 will require your
support:
- Purchase classroom
text books for Science and Social Studies (about $6000)
to allow each student to have a book at home. It
lightens the backpack and reduces the chance of
forgetting to bring home a textbook.
- Courtyard Clean up and
Beautification Program
- Social Events for all
grade levels
- Art Reflections – A
national PTA Competition
- FRESH IDEAS AND
PROGRAMS – WE WANT YOUR IDEAS
…and why should
I join?
Parents are
such an integral part of LTMS PTA…to be sure; the above
accomplishments do not happen without the direct support of LTMS
parents. Your involvement and support:
-
Improves our success of making a positive
difference in our children’s lives.
-
Funds and staffs program and activities that would
not exist without PTA.
-
Rewards you through relationships and friendships
with LTMS faculty and parents, as well as hearing parent
education speakers.
-
Shares and spreads the responsibilities among our
extended LTMS families.
-
Enables us to express appreciation towards the
wonderful LTMS faculty.
-
…Can be THE rewarding experience that you’re
looking for!!!
